Senior Gameplay Game Designer

 

We are looking for a Senior Gameplay Game Designer to join our team. If you have solid experience designing gameplay systems and combat mechanics this is your opportunity.

💡 A portfolio or documentation showcasing previous game design work is required in order to evaluate the application.

Responsibilities

  • Design and iterate on core gameplay systems, mechanics, combat, player abilities and progression.
  • Create and maintain clear game design documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with programming, art, and production teams to ensure cohesive implementation of gameplay features.
  • Balance gameplay systems and mechanics based on testing and feedback.
  • Participate actively in prototyping, tuning, and improving the overall player experience.
  • Analyze and break down gameplay references and genre standards to support production goals.

 

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in video game development as a game designer.
  • Experience working on action-oriented games, preferably 2D titles.
  • Have participated in the development and shipment of at least one commercially released game.
  • Strong understanding of gameplay feel, combat design, pacing, and player feedback systems.
  • Experience creating and maintaining game design documentation.
  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly across teams.
  • English, minimum B1 (desirable B2 or higher).

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing for action-platformer or combat-heavy games.
  • Familiarity with scripting tools like PlayMaker.
  • Experience working with agile methodologies.
  • Understanding of level design principles and their relationship with gameplay systems.
  • Passion for retro-inspired games and pixel art aesthetics.

 

Additional information

  • Type of contract:
    • Long term position. 40 hours/week contract.
    • From 39k euros gross annual salary, commensurate with experience.
    • We are based in Tenerife and Seville. For this role, we have a preference for candidates located in or able to work from our Seville office, though remote work is also available.
    • You might be required to attend up to 2 per-team and 2 company-wide team-building activities each year, travel and accommodation provided by the company.
